Interactive water fountains (summer), antique carousel ($1), open green space, river views. The carousel costs a dollar but everything else is free. Go at golden hour — the light over the river from the park is the best in the city.
Thirteen miles of paved path along the Tennessee River connecting downtown to the Chickamauga Dam. Bike, run, walk, or just sit on a bench and watch the river. Free parking at multiple access points.
Annual Renaissance faire at Coolidge Park — same day as Frazier Festival on Frazier Ave. Costumes encouraged but not required. Free entry.
Annual North Shore street festival. Free entry, outdoor vendors, live music. Same day as Renaissance Faire, so the North Shore will be packed — get there before noon if you want parking anywhere near Coolidge.
